Truce by Sam Tomlyn

Peace is only a handshake away — or is it? Truce by Sam Tomlyn is a witty comic-style art print featuring two chess pieces shaking hands in an uneasy agreement, each secretly hiding a weapon behind their back. Coloured laser sights point toward the pieces from opposite directions, hinting that snipers are lying in wait to shatter the fragile peace.

Blending chess imagery with dark humour and playful visual storytelling, Truce captures the tension of a negotiation where neither side can quite be trusted. The contrast between the friendly handshake and the concealed weapons creates an amusing commentary on distrust, rivalry, and the precarious nature of peace.

Perfect for chess enthusiasts, fans of clever cartoons, and collectors of quirky graphic art, this print makes a distinctive addition to a game room, office, studio, or gallery wall. Its playful concept offers plenty for viewers to notice and appreciate each time they look at it.

Created by Canadian artist Sam Tomlyn, Truce brings humour and personality to the world of chess-inspired artwork.
