Spiritual Journey by Brandon Macdonald

Canadian photographer Brandon Macdonald strolls along many trails throughout Chilliwack. In early 2026 the flushes of Amanitas were in great abundance, and in stark contrast to the decaying leaves surrounding them. Spotted this vibrant Amanita Muscaria mushroom growing along the Vedder River with a macro lens. A slug is slowly devouring it from underneath the cap….surely in for quite the journey! Amanita Muscaria is steeped in much lore ranging from flying reindeer, Siberian shamanism, Santa Claus, Alice In Wonderland, and Super Mario Bros…..to name a few.
